Big, stompy and fascinating, dinosaurs are one of the first great passions of many children — and these pages are made for the youngest fans. Almost every drawing is marked Easy: one dinosaur per page, drawn with thick outlines and large shapes, ideal for children aged two to four who are just starting to colour.

Meet the dinosaurs
The collection is a small field guide. The meat-eaters are here: Tyrannosaurus rex (including a T. rex mother), Velociraptor, Utahraptor, Deinonychus, Ceratosaurus and Herrerasaurus. The gentle giants too: Brontosaurus, Diplodocus, Argentinosaurus, Alamosaurus and Jobaria. Then the armoured and crested ones — Stegosaurus, Ankylosaurus, Pachycephalosaurus, Pachyrhinosaurus, Albertaceratops, Parasaurolophus and Lambeosaurus — the fast ostrich-like Gallimimus and Struthiomimus, and Archaeopteryx, the famous "dino bird".
Learning while colouring
Several pages show whole groups — sauropods, theropods, ornithopods, raptors — which is a nice way to explain that dinosaurs came in families. Read the name aloud before colouring: children love long, strange words, and "Pachycephalosaurus" is a great one to practise.
How big were they?
Children love comparing sizes. Velociraptor was only about as big as a turkey, Tyrannosaurus rex was around 12 metres long, and Argentinosaurus, one of the biggest animals that ever walked the Earth, measured more than 30 metres — as long as three buses in a row.
For the youngest
Because the drawings are so simple, they work well for a toddler's first colouring sessions, for fine-motor practice at preschool and as a quick, calm activity. There is even a wooden toy dinosaur, a nice bridge between colouring and play.
Colouring tips
Nobody knows exactly what colour dinosaurs were, so every choice is right. Scientists think many had camouflage patterns, like today's animals: suggest stripes, spots or two shades of green and brown. For a party, print a different dinosaur for each child and hang the finished drawings together as a "Jurassic" garland.
